It's exchange day today

Yes you heard it right, today you can exchange your starcoins for stardollars.
Note that you can do it only once and max 500 starcoins, which is nice, as you get 50 stardollars, enough for broadcasts, which seem to not come out for a while btw.

Example of bad sale

Like I said in one of my posts, there are things you shouldn't sell if you want to get some profit, like free items. Check out this sale for example:
Almost everything that she is selling was available for free, now I know some of you don't want to risk using proxies, but most people do use them, so this is pointless, and won't get her much profit.

Recommended shops

Here I will show you some users that I visit more than others, just to check if they have updated their sales, and I must say, those are pretty good and smart sellers, and yet you can still make profit if you buy from them and resell later, click on their names to visit their shops.

Start search from higher prices

Looking for yellow stuff but you can't find anything because of those stupid free superstar dresses? No problem, you can increase the starting price when you search. That way you might miss some bargains, but at least it will be easier to find what you really want.

Bookmark

Whenever you find a good sale, and you will find many, trust me, don't just look, buy and leave. Bookmark store, if you want make a new folder for Stardoll bookmarks. Now you have to check often if the seller restocks. You may find some really good deals that way. If person doesn't restock in a while, you can easily remove bookmark.

Don't forget to recycle

You probably know about the recycle function you have in your suite, but not many remember to use it daily. Truth is that you can recycle up to 2 stardollar items in exchange for 1 stardollar each and 3 starcoin items for 5 starcoins each. You probably have some spare interior items that you won't use, so go ahead and recycle them. That way in 3 days you can earn for one broadcasts, in 2 more days for 1 more broadcasts, it may seem like not much, but it can help a lot when you are broke.

Make your name represent your brand

Brand - "name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller's good or service as distinct from those of other sellers.
Having your name recognisable and a 'brand', ain't easy task, but it will definitely pay of. First of all, you mustn't ever scam. Not even to avenge your friend who got scammed. Make sure you always have fair, but still prices that will bring you profit. Also refresh and restock your bazaar with new fashionable products often. You should have products for each type of customer. And of course, broadcast, so that people see you and remember your name.

Small vs Big Sellers

There is a difference between sellers, and this one is the most obvious. Small seller, someone with prices like this:
Their way: They hunt for not so rare items, hotbuys, something they can resell for not much higher. They have a lot of patience for constant searching in bazaars for bargains.
Pros: They will almost always have stardollars for broadcasting, and their sale will keep going, as long as they restock it.
Cons: Little money, never enough for some big purchases, like LE collection or tribute stores collections.
Big sellers:
Their way: They hunt for big, real bounty hunters. They invest in more expensive items in order to get many stardollars. They know exactly what they want and have ways to get it.
Pros; Big money, really great income. Can collect enough for bigger purchases.
Cons: Usually because of high prices they get broke, don't have enough for broadcasts. And get stupid annoying comments like 'OMG your prices are too high, blah blah blah'

So what kind of seller are you? Answer on poll I will put on sidebar. And who do you think is better?
Me? I used to be small seller, but now I have 'overgrown' it and I have no more patience for this, so I am big seller, let's just say I got over 500 stardollars now, of course they are locked now. (Darn Stardoll!)

What I sold - Couture tribute

Here's screenshot of couture tribute items I sold, as you can see, it has repeats, which means I sold item once, bought it again and sold it for higher price again. Note: Those prices do not guarantee that you will sell for the same amount, I got Elle Saab dress returned after 4 days in bazaar, and I am still trying to sell it, but remember, advertising it important. Without broadcasts I can't assure you will sell it. And how to find items - simple! Search for them in main bazaar, use search function, determine the price (2-100 is best, maybe 150 if you want to risk) and keep refreshing. You may not find at first, but you gotta be patient. Usually you will find affordable item in short amount of time, but you never know.
Now do you want more screenshots of what I sold, so you can determine the prices easier? Vote on the poll on sidebar or here in comments.

Some more tips

- You will need to check out a lot of sales before you find good one. Check broadcasts frequently, I never said it was going to be easy.
- Check guestbooks for advertisements too. People advertise there when they got no stardollars and they may be selling really good stuff.
- Watch what you buy. You might regret it. Some stuff you can sell for high prices, other you can't. You will need to learn to make difference between these.

Broke

No matter how well you plan, organize your sale, broadcast smartly, someday you might end up with only few stardollars. What to do then?
My first tip is - go somewhere. Visit friend, cousin, go out, just leave Stardoll a bit. Stock your bazaar fully and go. If you are lucky enough, and you have reasonable priced stuff, you might be surprised when you get back.
That didn't work? Oh, well, then you have to lower your prices a bit, or put several cheap items on sale, send broadcast when it's high traffic, and wait. It will have to work. At least it always did with me. Maybe sometimes you will have to wait even few days, but eventually you will sell something.
Still nothing? Message me on Stardoll (VampireLady33), and I will check out your sale and see how can I help. And next time, spend smart. Make sure you always have about 50  stardollars for broadcasts, broadcasts are essential, make sure you are stocked with good stuff, and sales will go.

Collecting clothes

What not to do

At least if you want to be collector, and have rares, you will want to have good reputation, of course. Then you surely know you shouldn't scam. EVER.
But what you also should not do is to refuse to give back items to person that got hacked. Picture this: you caught rare DKNY in vintage shop for 2sd, rushed to get it, bought it, but then someone tells you that they got hacked and hacker sold that particular piece of DKNY clothing. Okay, first, you should check what reputation they have, if they are known well. And ask for a screenshot that you bought it from them. If they give it to you, the best thing is to give the item back. It will make you feel you did something good, and your consciousness and  reputation will stay clear.
If you ever think twice about giving the item back, imagine you in situation of being hacked. I know, you are watching what are you doing, taking safety measures, not using proxies, etc, but it MIGHT happen still, you never know.

From rags to riches - Stardoll version: the beginning

How to price items you got

At first, if you are starting this adventure, you most likely have some items that can be sold for fair prices. Oh, please don't tell me you didn't get the free dkny. Okay, you may have not been there yet, but what about other dkny? Elle? Corture tribute, holiday dresses, antidote, or even LE. So here's a tip how to price those items

Elle - accesories 50+ , tops 100+ , dresses 200+
Dkny - depends on season, but 50 and up
Corture tribute 100+
holiday dresses 50
antidote, elle - at least twice higher, maybe 3 times, depends on original price, NOT the price you got it for

Those are just tips, don't take them too rigid, you may go lower or higher, but this is how much I sell for and they usually get sold.

What not to sell (at least not with high prices)

Hello, so from now on, I will be start making my 'From rags to riches - Stardoll version' guide. I will post articles on blog and on special page named the same, where you will find guide while it is being made and when it's done you will have helpful guide on earning money, that should work, at least it works with me. So here is the first article:

Okay, so you want to make some money, and you got some spare items in your closet. Great! Now let's eliminate things you won't be making much money and you will just waste time and money on broadcasts.

- Free items you got from using proxies. Many users get it, and why would they pay you when they can get them for free. Even if they are not available anymore, the price tag still says zero and it won't make people pay much money for them.
- Opera mystery items. May of us got it for free just by logging in, so only few people would actually pay to get them.
- Any other free items (except they are rewards for competitions). You got the point by now, right?
- Items that just left starplaza. They usually leave with a 50% sale, so if someone didn't buy it from shop, he most likely won't buy it from you for same or higher price.
- Archive items. Similar as above, except they don't leave with a sale, so some people still may not have gotten them, but most likely they did.
- Plain or simple designs. Why would people pay for your design when they could make same for less money.

So that's pretty much it, if you have something to add, write in comment box. Thanks, and happy shopping.

Tips on broadcasting sales

So, you decided to use the most efficient way to advertise your sale. Good choice. Now let's make it more productive.

1. Send broadcasts about 7-8 pm GMT. That is the best time because many stardoll users are online that time.
2. Put more words on it. Simple 'sale' doesn't tell much, and it is short so people have to go way left to click on it. Put the word several times so the message is longer. It costs the same.
3. Explain your sale. 'Rare inspired by sale' , 'limited edition and dkny sale', 'cheap 5/10sd sale' etc.
4. Do NOT lie. Don't tell people that you sell dkny when you don't, or you have cheap sale when the prices are over 20.
5. Direct sales straight to your bazaar. It will be better for you and buyer. If you direct them to your page, you will most likely get spammed about other sales (really annoying).
6. Don't try to make top broadcasters list. It is not worth it. It will take a lot of money and time since minimum for you to be on list is to send 100 broadcasts, usually more, so you would be spending at least 500 stardollars. And it won't make people visit and buy from you constantly, because people go to broadcasting page to advertise, not to look others' sales.
7. Don't advertise too much. This is similar to previous, but this means do not send several messages in a row, it is better to send one each 5/10 minutes. Why? Because if you send like 10 same broadcasts, people will look for the first time, but later they will just ignore it.
8. Put "thanks" at the end of broadcast. (Thanks pnkrkgrl for the tip.) That way people will know you appreciate them buying and it will save your time in thanking each one individually.
9. Have your own recognizable message. Simple "sale sale starbazaar" won't say much, but if you use same message often, people will start to recognize your name. Any of you remembers "vintage sale, always resctocking"? It used to be my broadcast back then when I had account VampLady, and it would attract a lot of people. Don't be lazy!

So that's pretty much it, if you have anymore tips, feel free to share with us. Thanks.

Account safety tips

Taken from PSG

1. NEVER give anyone your password. No matter what they offer or promise you, no matter how much they swear they won't hack you, do not trust anyone who asks you for your password! This goes for people you consider friends as well, some hackers on Stardoll go to great lengths to establish a friendship with you and gain your trust. You don't have to be paranoid, just use your judgment!

2. Be very suspicious if someone starts asking you random personal questions like "What's your mother's maiden name?" or "What was the name of your first pet?" because they are trying to get your Security Question out of you so that they can gain access to your email account through the "Forgot Your Password?" feature.

3. Be careful what you click on! Don't go to unfamiliar links sent to you by random people, they could be leading you to a keylogger virus that gives them access to everything you have typed over a period of time, including your passwords. Try not to run competitions that require you to click on links, have tasks in Albums or Sceneries instead of having people print screen and upload to tinypic.com.

4. Use a Virtual Keyboard to type in your passwords, not just on Stardoll but in general, especially when paying for things with a credit card online. Most operating systems have a virtual keyboard built-in, and you can also download a free one online.
Click on Start -> Go to All Programs -> Click on Accessories -> Select Accessibility or Ease of Access ->Click on On-Screen Keyboard
CLICK HERE for instructions on how to access your virtual keyboard on a Mac.

5. Beware of proxies! I know using a proxy is popular now to gain access to items that Stardoll gives away in other countries, but it exposes your personal information to third parties and can make you vulnerable to phishing and viruses.

Please contact me if you have any tips to add to the list!

Advertising on SD

So, one of the basic things for making a sale is advertising. Here are some types and places for advertising, and which ones have what effect on viewers:

Broadcasts - The best way for advertising, for sure. You pay 5sd for message, but it gets shown on top of everyone's page. The best time to advertise is 8pm GMT.
Guestbooks - Really, really annoying, and honestly, in 99% doesn't work, so just don't do it, except you are really really broke.
Dolls/SD Blog posts, etc. - It almost never works, because it gets soon covered by other messages.
Clubs - If it is a club dedicated to sales, fashion, advertising etc, it's a excellent place, but still less productive then broadcasts. If it is another themed club, like for celebs, life, etc, DON'T do it. It will annoy the owner and probably get you banned.
Friend requests - NEVER works, the friend you are sending sale advertising in request will simply ignore it.

So to conclude, broadcasts and advertising clubs are the best options for advertising, others almost never work and they are just a waste of time.

Welcome

Hi, and welcome to my new blog. Here I will share with you some tips how to earn stardollars, buy good items, how to save up and when, etc. I will be also telling you about some cheap or sales with rares, and it could be your sale if I find it good enough (meaning older items, lower prices). So follow and invite your friends too. Thanks.
